GFLRRC Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Approval Minutes of Last Meeting:
The minutes of last month’s meeting were approved as presented.
Treasurer’s Report: Susan
The treasurer’s report is approved by all board members as presented.
Membership: Maria
We currently have 444 members. (+8 from last month)
AM Track Workouts: Coach Robert
The track is open. We have lights on the track, water and stop watches.
We have average of 18 runners.

Newsletter: Kudos to Linda for a continued great job with the Newsletter.
Linda reminds all that if you want races/ times (pre or post) listed, you must contact Linda directly.
E-Newsletter: (Kathy McCall). John Renaud and Tracey have volunteered to assist Kathy with the E-Newsletter.
Motion approved that the authorship of the E-Newsletter will be alternated with each issue.
Saturday Training 5K/10K/Half/Full
An email will be sent to all members advising of the new start time of 6:00am.
Running Wild store will open on Saturdays at 9:30am and therefore will not be open during morning training. Bathrooms will still be available at I-Hop.
Water is provided on the training course north and south, nevertheless, he still recommends that every one carry their own water.
We have an average of 25 to 30 participants.
Sunday Fun Run at
Training proved successful for participants in the ING on January 31st.
Usual training taking place every Sunday and is averaging between 20-30 runners participating.
Members have volunteered to assist with the distribution and pick up at the water stops. There is a list of volunteers alternating assistance but more volunteers would be appreciated. If anyone can help out please contact Tom Kasprik and/or Susan Falvai.
Thursday evening fun run:
The GFLRRC runners continue to increase in attendance (+/- 25) on Thursday evening at 6:30pm starting at Running Wild, Ft Lauderdale. We look forward to welcoming more members and non-members.
Expo had strong number of volunteers and was a great success. Participation in the 5K on Saturday was strong. Thanks to all of the volunteers at the Expo, 5k and ING starting / finish line.
Series Races: Bob
The Maroone Rotary 5K: attendance was 411 registered. Concern is it was the weekend after the ING.
A1A will have a 5k in
This is being considered as the 1st race of the Series for next year.
5K For A Better Day. Awards planned. Shirts are going into the stores for registration.
St. Patrick’s Day 4 Miler: Awards planned. Shirts not ready yet for registration.
Run for the Roses: Bob
Motion passed that the race be moved from
Future at Large Board Members: Cynthia
Executive members will hold a meeting in the future to select the “at Large” Board Members.
New Business:
Motion passed that Maria Fletcher is approved to set up a tent at the St. Patrick’s Day 4 Miler and Run for the Roses without charge by GFLRRC in support of the Focus Birmingham charity, which she is a runner/charity fundraiser. The tent will include raffle baskets and possible massage therapists. She is also approved to have a raffle basket at the GFLRRC A1A Expo tent.
GFLRRC members Maria Fletcher and Nancy Rose volunteered to be GFLRRC representatives at the 1st social for runners/walkers/biking residents of Nu River Landing on March 3rd. Membership applications, Running Forum, upcoming race applications will be provided.
Motion passed that the race registration for Better Day will be held the Wednesday before, noon-8pm, and the Wednesday before St. Patrick’s Day, noon-8pm, at our trailer sponsor, Therapeutic Massage place of business. Registrants will get a $5.00 discount for the St. Patrick’s Day event.
