GFLRRC Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Thursday, April 15, 2010


Location: Barnard Residence, 299 SE 1st, Terrace, Pompano Beach

Attendees: Robert Barnard, Cynthia Barnard, Tom Coccia, Tom Kasprik, Eileen Schneider, Robert Hendrick, Nancy Rose Peduzzi, Susan Falvai, Jon Renaud, Liz Hadfield

Approval Minutes of Last Meeting:

The minutes of last month’s meeting were approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report: Susan

The treasurer’s report is approved by all board members as presented.

Membership: Maria

We currently have 442 members. (-5 from last month)

AM Track Workouts: Coach Robert

The track is open. We have lights on the track, water and stop watches. 14, 25, & 18…runners have been showing up. All very successful!

PM Track Work-out: (Coach Howard)

Wednesday evening at Central Park from 6 to 8 PM is being cancelled due to low participation.

Newsletter: Kudos to Linda for a continued great job with the Newsletter.

Linda reminds all that if you want races/ times (pre or post) listed you must contact Linda directly.

Information should be received on or before the 9th of the month.

E-Newsletter: Jon Renaud

Last Issue 4/5/1020 sent 4052, 800 opened the emails. Only 13 email invalid and only 13 chose to unsubscribe… there were 163 clicks! 45 for GFLRRC training; 23 Run for the Roses 5k race; and 20 Kids in Distress 5k race

Before May 17th we need to know any additional information of advertisers/sponsors setting up tables at the expo.

Board approved of having a chiropractor set up a table at the Run for the Roses race and future races.

Saturday Training 5K/10K/Half/Full Marathon: Coach Robert

Water is provided on the training course north and south, nevertheless, he still recommends that every one carry their own water. (He will not be at the 7 mile bridge run.)

We have an average of 25 to 30 participants.

Sunday Fun Run at Deerfield : Coach Tom Kasprik

Has training plans for whatever distance anyone is running.

Water stop assistance now has a group of volunteers alternating commitments. If anyone can help out please contact Tom Kasprik and/or Susan Falvai.

Thursday evening fun run:

The GFLRRC runners continue to increase in attendance (+/- 25) on Thursday evening at 6:30pm starting at George English Park, Ft Lauderdale. We look forward to welcoming more members and non-members.

Run for the Roses: Bob

Contracts are all signed. There will be a 5 minute difference in start time for the women before the men’s start.

Cynthia: getting the shirts ready and the awards. Volunteers will be needed.

Future at Large Board Members: Cynthia

Executive members will hold a meeting in the future to select the “at Large” Board Members.

Runners World Listing: Nancy Rose

Nancy Rose and Bob will coordinate to work on the Runners World listing.

5 X 5 Tent: Bob

Robert will bring by the Iced Tea 5 x 5 tent .

Fitness Fiesta: May 23rd Sunday, 4pm at George English Park pavilion. Cost $10.00 per person.

Vendors, speakers, coaches are being formulated at this time. Food (grill) and Chipotle burritos; pavilion rental, dessert contest. … No alcoholic beverages in the park. Board approved a budget of $600.00.

Thursday Pizza Night: Board approved to charge $5.00 per person for pizza at the George English park instead of traveling to the restaurant.

SST: Susan

Split second Timing will be doing the next two races for GFLRRC.

Old Business:

The wheel chair has been purchased for Anthony by Rick from Split Second Timing. All donations received in this behalf to the club will be turned over to the family for expenses. As of this meeting we have collected $25.00. Kudos to Rick for taking on this purchase.
